UKLFI: Supporting Israel with legal skills

Webinar: Deir Yassin: A Question of Evidence

UKLFI Charitable Trust hosted a webinar on Deir Yassin – A Question of Evidence with Prof Eliezer Tauber and chaired by Natasha Hausdorff on Sunday 29 May 2022.

Professor Eliezer Tauber discussed his fascinating  his research on the incident in the village of Deir Yassin in April 1948, the subject of his book “The Massacre that Never Was”, recently published in English.

The alleged massacre at Deir Yassin is frequently cited in discussions about Palestinian refugees and could be said to form a cornerstone of the Palestinian narrative of the establishment of the State of Israel.  However, Professor Tauber’s detailed analysis of eye witness accounts shows the danger of relying on reportage by persons with their own political objectives.

Similar problems continue to this day in relation to reports of NGOs and UN bodies, as well as proceedings in international criminal tribunals, as discussed HERE. This webinar should be of great interest to those concerned about false reports today as well as propaganda in the past.
