We are looking to recruit a UK qualified lawyer on a remunerated basis to join our growing team, to specialise in matters relating to local government, healthcare and other public authorities.
The work will include invoking laws to counter antisemitism, discrimination and boycotts. A wide variety of areas of law can apply including equality, administrative, fiduciary duties, charity, criminal, professional regulations, human rights and international law. Previous experience of these areas is not required, but ability and willingness to learn and research different areas are essential.
The successful applicant will also need to have or to acquire a good grasp of the history of the Jewish people and of manifestations of antisemitism.
Some training and guidance will be given in various different areas, but we need someone who has the initiative and capability to explore sources of information, particularly on the Internet. An ability to think out of the box to find laws and tools to address different issues is expected.
While we are looking for someone to work mainly on matters relating to public authorities, the person engaged will be expected to work flexibly as a member of our small team of remunerated staff, including on some matters outside this area.
Applicants must have strong written and oral communication skills. They should also be able to use standard office software, such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Google Docs, Google Forms and Zoom.
Experience in using major social media platforms for both research and communication will be an advantage, as will any familiarity with Monday.com.
We do not have an office. The successful applicant will be expected to work mainly at home and must have the self-discipline to work efficiently by themself. The person engaged will also be expected to give occasional talks and attend some meetings, sometimes online and sometimes in person.
The job can be full-time or part-time.
Remuneration to be discussed, depending on experience.
