UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI) has welcomed confirmation that Sean Adepoju, a senior officer at Tower Hamlets Council, no longer works for the local authority.

UKLFI wrote to Tower Hamlets in November 2025 after Gnasher Jew had publicised that Mr Adepoju had posted an openly antisemitic comment on Facebook, stating “Hitler was right” in response to a CNN International post concerning the Middle East

The comment was posted on 14 November 2025 from a Facebook account using the name “Sean Williams”. Gnasher Jew provided detailed evidence to UKLFI which showed that the account belonged to Mr Adepoju, including matching profile photographs used across his Facebook, Google and YouTube accounts, as well as distinctive identifying features visible in his LinkedIn profile photograph

UKLFI informed Tower Hamlets that the comment amounted to an endorsement of genocide. Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime murdered six million Jews during the Holocaust, and praising Hitler’s actions constitutes one of the most extreme forms of antisemitic racism.

In its letter to the Council’s Chief Executive, UKLFI noted that while individuals have a right to freedom of expression, that right does not extend to racist hate speech or advocacy of mass murder. UKLFI also drew attention to Tower Hamlets Council’s own Anti-Racist Pledge, which commits the authority to ensuring that racism is not tolerated within its institutions

Following UKLFI’s intervention, Mr Adepoju’s LinkedIn account states that his employment with Tower Hamlets ceased last month.  Tower Hamlets Council has also confirmed that Sean Adepoju does not work for them.

A UKLFI spokesperson said:

“There can be no ambiguity about this. Praising Hitler is praise for genocide. Anyone who states that ‘Hitler was right’ is endorsing the mass murder of six million Jews and the ideology that drove it. Such views are utterly incompatible with public service and with the basic values of equality, decency and the rule of law.

“We are grateful to Gnasher Jew for exposing this appalling material. Without that scrutiny, this extreme antisemitism might never have come to light. Public authorities must act decisively when hatred of this kind is uncovered.”
