A booth, erected by an Islamic organisation which contained a banner accusing Israel of killing children, has now been removed by Transport for London.
The blue and white booth, covered in slogans and banners, had been placed without permission outside Shepherd’s Bush station. A slogan on the banner read: “Israel’s killing children again. Enjoy your weekend”. Another message on the booth encouraged people to “Join the fastest growing religion on the planet today”.
The organisation running the booth was “One True Message Foundation”, whose purpose appears to be to promote the Islamic faith as well as to spread inflammatory messages.
UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI) informed Transport For London (TFL) that the messages on the booth and banners were likely to be offensive and cause distress to the public. The slogan regarding Israel killing children was likely to stir up racial hatred against Israelis and Jews.
UKLFI pointed out that the booth and banners breached TFL’s “Equality Objectives” and reminded TFL of its Public Sector Equality Duty under Section 149 of the Equality Act 2010. TFL must, in the exercise of its functions, have due regard to the need to foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.
Allowing the booth and banners to remain, given the incendiary messages, would not foster good relations between people of different faiths and beliefs.
A spokesperson for UKLFI commented: “We are pleased that TFL has ensured the removal of the unauthorised booth and its banners, as the printed words were likely to be inflammatory and offensive to the general public.”
This incidet at Shepherd’s Bush Station in Hammersmith follows another case in May 2025, where a booth claiming “Jesus is a Muslim” was erected outside the Station. Similarly an unlawful booth was erected in Chelmsford High Street, which UKLFI drew to the attention of Chelmsford City Council, who advised that the illegal booth should be removed and that measures were being taken to ensure its removal.
