King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is reviewing concerns about one of its consultants after he made an allegedly antisemitic, pro-terror speech outside the US Embassy on 4 April 2026. Mr Ranjeet Brar, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist), has, according to its website, The Communists, been suspended for at least two weeks from the hospital.
A complaint by UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI), sent to the Trust’s Chief Executive Professor Clive Kay on 6 April, outlined serious allegations regarding statements made by Mr Brar, a consultant vascular surgeon, in a speech at a rally outside the US Embassy in London.
Separately, Mr Brar was arrested on 9 April as a result of the content of his speech and later released.
Mr Brar’s speech had called for:
- Complete destruction of the State of Israel and for it to be “wiped off the face of the map and replaced with the word Palestine in its entirety”.
- Victory to Iran (including the statement “At the end of the Eight-Day War, I was one of those people who wanted Iranians not to stop striking Israel.”)
- Support for the “Lebanese resistance”, calling for its triumph.
- Triumph of the “Yemeni resistance”
- Closure of the Israeli and US embassies in the UK (including “eject these parasites from our country” and “to finally have a reckoning with the real parasites in this country …the financiers in the City of London who seek to enslave us all”).

He also referred to the “Epstein class” and said that they were the “enemies of humanity” who were fighting this war and running this war.
UKLFI had been contacted by a Jewish patient at Kings College Hospital, who had been worried about being treated by Dr Brar, citing fears about potential bias.
UKLFI argued that Mr Brar’s conduct was likely to have breached the General Medical Council’s Good Medical Practice guidance, particularly in relation to maintaining patient trust, avoiding discrimination, and upholding professional integrity.
Mr Brar had previously been arrested in January 2024 for selling pamphlets alleged to contain antisemitic content, although no prosecution followed.
In a written reply dated 9 April 2026, Professor Kay confirmed that the issues raised are being taken seriously. He stated: “We are aware of the footage in question, and I can confirm that we are reviewing the concerns raised although … for reasons of confidentiality, fairness and due process, it would not be appropriate for us to comment on individual cases or any potential actions.”
He wrote that issues which meet the relevant thresholds will be addressed through the appropriate formal routes and stressed that as an organisation “we have a duty to challenge discrimination in all its forms and this is a responsibility we take very seriously.”
King’s College Hospital indicated that it will consider “any action that is appropriate” to ensure its hospitals remain “welcoming and safe places for everyone.”
UKLFI has also contact the General Medical Council regarding Mr Brar’s actions.
A spokesperson for UKLFI commented: “We welcome the Trust’s investigation and urge that appropriate action is taken.”
Mr Brar is a co-director of a newly formed company called Healthcare Workers Against Censorship Ltd (HCWAC) which fights “the censorship of healthcare workers”. His co-directors are Dr Rehiana Ali, who was suspended by the Interim Orders Tribunal of the GMC pending the result of a full investigation into her fitness to practise. The suspension was later lifted, on review, although the investigation into her fitness to practise continues. The third director of HCWAC is Dr Tamara Ali, a trainee GP who has previously been faced disciplinary action by NHS Scotland for displaying Palestine badges and flags while at work. Dr Tamara Ali has recently been reported to the GMC regarding social media posts.
