Dr Efrat Sopher, one of UKLFI’s Directors, has been appointed to the Board of the Israel Council on Foreign Relations (ICFR).
The ICFR is based in Jerusalem and operates under the auspices of the World Jewish Congress. It is devoted to the study and debate of foreign policy, with special emphasis on Israeli and Jewish concerns. It has been publishing the Israel Journal of Foreign Affairs since 2006. Its current President is former Israeli Minister, Dan Meridor
Dr Sopher is an expert on Iran and chairs Haifa University’s Ezri Center for Iran and Gulf States Research.
Referring to the appointment of Dr Sopher, together with Prof Gisela Dachs, Andrew Nagorski and Carice Witte, Prof Irwin Cotler, who has served on the Board of ICFR for ten years, said: “With the addition of the expertise and commitment of these new members, the Council is even better positioned to confront the many complex international issues of our time.”
